2006 CountDown

Where were you then?

I know where I was. I was in Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur, joining 2006 countdown party organized by KL Lions Clubs. It was a kinda funny event to tell the truth.

First of all, when everyone was partying outdoor or in a pub, the party was held in Hotel Istana Grand Ballroom 2. Second, when everyone was eating snack and such, we were having a 10 courses dinner. Third, whenn everyone need to pay for their snacks and beer/liquor, at least me and my girlfriend was sponsored by one big taukeh. The only thing that we need to pay was our tickets to ride on Putra-LRT and KL Monorail.

Let me refresh my memories about that countdown. We were afraid that we might end up in a traffic jam, so we decided to take the train down. We reached Putra-LRT Kelana Jaya about 5 pm and took the LRT down to KL Sentral. The journey was about 40 minutes and when we disembark at KL Sentral, we move on to KL Monorail and took the monorail to its Raja Chulan station. By the time we reached that station, it was raining which result in a "wet" me when we reached Hotel Istana about 6.40 pm.

Since the dinner/party was meant to start about 7 pm, we waited patiently. As every Malaysian's dinner, everything was delayed and the dinner started shortly after 8 pm. The dishes was nice except for the "chicken" which we felt kinda hard.

By 10 pm, everyone was full and it was time for some games. Many games were played and it involved a large part of the guest and everyone was happy. Next came the Magician. The trick was nice and it entertain alot of people, me included.

At about 11 pm, everyone was starting to get excited and the dancefloor was next. Everyone just dance and dance and dance and dance... (you get the idea). By the time it was nearly 2006, most, if not all the guests are on the dancefloor (me included) and very excited.

12.00 and New Year has arrived.

After the countdown, there was yet another event. Lucky Draw!!! Unfortunately, I did not win anything...

Now, come the last part, the journey home. It was such a crazy journey because everyone want to go home and the time was like 1.20 am already and when the monorail and LRT came, everyone just push and push into the small compartment. I must say this. Both KL Monorail and Putra-LRT did a very bad job on handling the night. They really suck!!!!

By the time we reached home, it was like almost 3 am and we went straight to sleep.
