Tribute to Colin McRae

Many people may not know about him but Colin McRae is one of the few people that actually influenced my life in a very mild way. Actually, the reason that I know about him may be funny for many. I learn about him through a PC game that I brought long time ago. Yupe... A PC game and you read it right...

Colin McRae is more than a PC game. He is in fact, a rally driver that actually won the British Rally Championship twice (1991 and 1992) and also World Rally Championship in 1995.

Colin McRae passed away in a helicopter accident near his home due to mechanical failure on 15 September 2007.

Apart from being the Mid-Autumn Day in the Chinese calender, yesterday is also a special day for both Mr and Mrs Marcus Tang.

I would like to congratulate them again here on their newborn baby.

Thinking about visiting them and maybe taking some pictures. If there is any, I would post it here...

Pesta TangLung UM 2007

Before I continue further, I would like to thank Crystal again for inviting me to this fiesta in UM on 23 September 2007. The fiesta was organized by UM MPP and frankly, I am impressed with the whole production. Here, I would like to show you some of the pictures taken yesterday.

Due to some unforeseen factor, I was not around when the play started but managed to watch Act 2 onwards.

The story goes like this:

A nurse overheard her mean mother that she is not really their daughter and decide to run a DNA test between her and her father. But before she get the result, the whole family went on a trip to an unknown island due to her father's interest in geography. The travel to the island with a group researchers.

When they are there in the island, the usual mean mother keep on making her life difficult, much to the dislike of the doctor traveling with them, since he has a liking towards her.

Some of the family members can easily adapt to the environment but it was hard for others. At one time, one of the brother actually frighten her younger sister by telling her about ghost. See what they have to show:

The nurse also received the result of the DNA test and it has been confirmed that she is not his daughter.

Later, due to jealousy, the second brother tricked his elder sister to help him find a watch somewhere in the jungle. Unfortunately, a group of aboriginals captured her and brought her back to their village.

When the family know about it, they went to the aboriginals village to save her but they learned that she has been given to the leader's son as a gift and if they want to save her, they would need to fight with him. The daughter tried to plead the family to leave her there as she does not want anyone of them to get hurt.

A fight ensured and the father was beaten. But the moment before the leader's son kill the father, the leader stopped the fight and announced that the nurse can leave with the family.

The leader's son really like her because before the family left the village, he gave her a bamboo cut that contained some of their medicine that he claim are very helpful for the dad.

Later at the camp, the daughter confronted with the father about her origin.

The father explained that her real father is actually his rival long time ago and he is also his best friend. Due to business failure, he went bankrupt and the whole family decided to kill themselves. But he manage to reach there on time and convinced the family not to kill the daughter.

He also gave her a photo with some handwriting at the back and after reading it, the daughter understand what really happened and they hugged...

The next day, the father had a heart attack which makes the daughter very sad...

But the father was lucky enough to be saved by the miracle medicine of the aboriginals.

From then onwards, they become friends...

My New Love

Even though I have not really have her yet, I hope that I can own one very soon.

Why I cannot get her now?

Well, this baby is a dSLR camera and basically, it would cost me about RM3099 to RM3799, depending on the package that I am going to take. So, the poor me need to save the money first to really own it. Unless you would want to sponsor me... :)

Yellow Tail

I believe that many of you never actually heard of Yellow Tail before. Just for your information, Yellow Tail is actually a brand for wine that is produce in Australia. I never really heard about it until the day I read Blue Ocean Strategy.

Yesterday, a few of us went to News KTV in Klang Parade to sing the song of our soul. :P

I was feeling a bit naughty and I actually went a buy a bottle of wine. I was browsing through Giant when I spotted Yellow Tail Chardonnay. I was looking around for a moment when I finally settle on it.

The people who are available for the karaoke are actually very few. They are Weoi Li, Li Jin, Ji Long, Fook Ming & wife and of course, me! We sang for 3 hours and I drank more than half of the Yellow Tail Chardonnay. Yupe! I was a bit drunk. But still okay. Luckily no need to drive. :P

By the time I reached home, it was about 10.30 pm already and I went straight to sleep! The funniest thing is not that I remember all these clearly but the fact that I woke up at about 3.10 am and never go back to sleep afterward. It was pretty scary to be awake for the that whole time until I get out of the house to work (6.45 am).

Conclusion: If you want to wake up early on the next day, buy Yellow Tail Chardonnay and get drunk. Sleep early and you would wake up early as well. (This is the result from one test only. There are many other possible result. Accept at your own risk)

Dilemma

This is actually a dilemma that I face earlier.

As you guys might know, my ex-girlfriend broke-up with me not so long ago but I have recovered. So, the question that I faced the other day is that how long I should take before I start approach someone new that I like.

Some people tell me that I actually need to rest for a while first. Others tell me that I can start immediately. Well, for me, it is more what come naturally. I am not in a hurry but if I really find someone suitable, I would go for it.

Now, this is the hard part. Let’s say that I found that someone that I like, I don’t really know how to approach her. Do you have any tips? Please let me know.

I think I should be better equipped first before the day comes.

Choices

Most of the time, people are given the choice of doing something. As for the rest of the time, they have to do something. When there is a choice, people would always do what they think is right and what is best for the situation. But there are times when you would need to do something that you don’t really like and you may need to lie to your friends.

What I can say here is actually the choice between the trust and loyalty. I cannot elaborate much here but what I am trying to say here is that it is not easy for me to make this choice but I need to be professional enough to do what I think should be done. If you ever know what I did, you may or may not agree with me but I have already made up my choice and I am just telling myself that I did the right thing.

Which one would you choose if it is between trust and loyalty?

Have A Back Up Plan and Be Creative

Do you always have a backup plan for whatever that you do? Most probably not.

I came to realize that many people, especially Malaysian, tend to just go on with whatever that they have in mind. Not to say that this is bad if your idea or plan is accepted but what if the person that you proposed the idea rejected it.

If you don't have a backup plan, chances are, you are going to defend your idea or plan no matter what. And in the end, when agreement simply cannot be attained, bad things would happened.

But what if the situation comes suddenly and you don't have the time to think of a backup plan. Well, that is where your creativity comes in handy. Easy says than done. Do you know why? Because Malaysian are taught not to be creative since young. We are told that only the right things matter. Anything that is technically incorrect are rejected without any question asked. Don't believe me?

Let me show you an example. Let's says that I draw a circle on a white-board and i ask you what you see. Chances are, you are going to reply me that you see a circle and nothing more. Well, that is how we are taught to react. "Just give the fact and nothing more". When you are sure it is correct, defend it with whatever that you have. Never, ever admit defeat. (Somehow, you should have this feeling about what I am trying to say here)

Let's continue with the circle again. If I ask a group of university students, they should give the same type of answer as you. But when I ask a group of secondary school students, chances are they are going to give me answer more than a circle. They may say that it is a ball or something similar. And if I asked a group of primary students, that is where I should get the most creative answers. Answers range from a moon in the sky or a snowball rolling down the slope to anything that may come to their mind. As you can see, we used to be creative but because of our upbringing, we are really putting the creativity in us in the backroom of our brain.

If you want to stay ahead, you would need to be creative. So, let your creativity comes out more often and it would surely benefit you in the long run.

And if you are asking whether those things that I have written above is for real or not, it is the fact that read somewhere but I cannot remember where. Well, if you really want to show that I am wrong, do your own test. Get different groups of people around and ask them the same question.

I bet you are getting the same type of answer.

Felt The Tremor?

I certainly did.

Just came back to my home and was sitting on a chair when I felt it. I thought that it was myself initially but when I saw my door swinging, I realize it is not me but the earth.

Later, it was reported that an earthquake took place west of Sumatra and it just confirmed what I felt.

So, did you felt it?

Hamsters

My sister's friend really is an animal lover. Apart from Siao Pu Dian, he has brought my sis eight hamsters. Here is one of the pictures taken on these hamster. Don't ask me what type of hamster is this. Heard that this is the latest craze in the hamster market.

Shih Tzu in the House!

Don't Worry. Shih Tzu is not really a human but a puppy that make frequent visit to my house. He is called Siao Pu Dian (roughly translated to become "Little Dot". Siao Pu Dian actually belong to my sister's friend.

At least this is one puppy that my mum is happy to see. Siao Pu Dian don't bark at her. In fact, it almost didn't bark at all.

Every now and then, I would have the privilege to play with Siao Pu Dian! Super cute doggy, really.

Maybe I would have one in the future.
