Crazy Frog

One of the most influential icon to this date is non other than The Crazy Frog. If you are asking why am I suddenly bring out this topic, then my answer is that today at office, a colleague's handphone with this ringtone keep on ringing and somehow it "irritate" another colleague of mine. Later, another colleague of mine downloadd that particular ringtone and keep on playing it, making the "irritated" colleague "go crazy". The whole atmosphere was kinda funny and everyone was laughing.

If you want to know more about this Crazy Frog, I would suggest that you read it up in Wikipedia here. There is really lots of information about it.

Anyway, back to Crazy Frog, it is either you like it or you hate it. There is no in-the-middle type of mood for Crazy Frog. My first encounter with this song was about 4 to 5 months ago when I was stuck in a traffic jam in my car with Cat in one rainy night. We were on our way to Sunway Pyramid for our dinner when the song was played in Hitz.fm. Feeling funny about it, I listened tentatively. Even though it is a techno type of song, somehow I feel good with it (even though I don't like techno that much). I felt that is sound nice and from that day onward, I keep on hearing it day in and day out. Up until today, this particular song is still very popular and it is gaining alot of ground in Malaysia.

I remember once when the deejay of a radio station was saying:

"I don't understand what you all are thinking. I tried not to play this song and yet you all are voting for it. So, here is Crazy Frog"

It was months ago and as you can see, it is invading our world. It is like wherever you go, you would hear it.

Step Forward

Now that KCBA English Dhamma Youth Camp has finally comes to its 10th edition, to some it is a mission accomplised. A dream come true. A satisfactory work done. That is what I guess Brother Weoi Li felt and this is a turing point for him. Whatever that he want to do next, he should be sure that there are a group of kalyana mitra beside him that would support him in whatever his decision maybe.

But to others, it is another new beginning. Like for me, it is more of a mission accomplished to help Brother Weoi Li in making his dream come true. Along the way, I even took that dream to become mine and to some extend, it is like my dream comes true as well. Anyway, now that I have help him to realize his dream, it would now lies on me to determine my own dream.

My dream, to one extent is very easy but at the same time kinda greedy as well, even to myself. I dream of a day when KCBADYC series would become a nationwide event and participants of the camp would be from all around the country. I am giving myself another one to five years to achieve this. Hope you can join me in this quest to make KCBADYC series a success in the future. Also, I would like to bring up new leaders among the would-be-committee-members so that they would take over Bro Weoi Li and my place in the future.

Also, I have made a resolution during KCBADYC10, Back to Basic: One to Ten, that I would change myself from the "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" to become a person that would be happy all the time. I want to be the person that would be able to communicate with others and I would especially happy to become a counsellor for young teens.

So many to tell but not enough time to type it...

So much has happened since the last time I have posted a post here. For now, I just want to keep it simple...

After the Andy Lau Vision Tour Concert 2005 in Stadium Merdeka, I continued my kinda busy schedule with the camp I have been waiting for, KCBA English Dhamma Youth Camp 10, Back to Basic: One to Ten. It was a five days camp and Weoi Li and I was the so advisors of the camp. Both of us took turn to "jaga malam" just to make sure that everyone is fine throughout the camp and it have been a very hectic camp for me. On the first night, I was down with a fever and I had to ask my father to come and fetched me home. My mom was terribly worried about me and both my parent bring me to see our family doctor straight away. I took an injection which cure me of my illness by the next morning. By evening time, I was back to the camp and took over from Bro Weoi Li to "jaga" the whole camp. I manage to sleep for 20 minutes that night and by the third night, I went into slumberland at about 12.00 am. Anyway, the crazies day for me was the fourth day when Bro Weoi Li was KO during the evening. I was faced with two very bad situations where on the first situation, a girl from my group was "attacked" by hamstring cramp on both of her legs. This make her particularly unmoveable because she would be in terrible pain if her leg was moved even abit. Shin Dee tried to help her but she was not able to "tahan" the pain at first. So, I took over on the "helping hands" to help her cope with the pain in a slow mode. After three hours of trying, she manage to find the courage to go to the "fast cure" mode and with Shin Dee's help, she was "cured".

Later in the evening, I was faced with another bad situation. Another girl was stung by a wasp. At first, I did not know what to do but in the end, I decided to bring her out of the camp to see a doctor. With an injection and some medicine, she was all right later in the evening.

Another event that is worth mentioning is of course, KCBADYC 10th Anniversary Night Celebration. It was an event that I have planned carefully since the beginning of the year. My mean of carefully is that I don't want Bro Weoi Li to know that there is a special Lifetimes' Achievement Award just for him. Dunno whether he know about it before the celebration or not. Anyway, apart from the Lifetime's Achievement Award, there are also awards for all the past camps president. But for me, the best award that I have that night was actually the look on all those guest from all the previous camps when they see each other. I am particularly sure because of this celebration, they are all together that particular night. It was kinda wasted when a few of the old-timer (like Soong Hern, Kok Leong, Wei Ping and many others) was not able to attend it but their presence was felt too because we are all Kalyana Mitras.

Then we have a Christmas Eve party at Jack's house in Bandar Botanic where it was attended mostly by those involved in KCBADYC 10. All of us have a great time there and a few of those December-born people were given a "great" gift of "laut" by the rest. I was one of them and my back was red after the "laut ceremony". Today, I am back to work and surely I would write some more about how I feel for the camp that I want to share with you all. Anyway, it is late now and I need to go home liao.

Watch out for my next post...

P/S: Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Andy Lau's Concert

Last Saturday, Cat and I went to Andy Lau's Vision Tour 2005 Concert in Stadium Merdeka and it is such an event. About 25,000 people attended the concert and the whole concert is such an eye opening event. Andy used alot of special effect to maximise the whole event.

As for me, there are two sad things about the whole event that I regret. The first is that I was not able to use a more powerful camera (Fujifilm FinePix S5600s that I intended to buy this month but due to some unforeseen circumstances, have to be delayed to next month) to take photos of Andy Lau and the concert. And the second thing that I feel sad is that there was no "En Core" at the end of the concert. People just leave the stadium when Andy said goodbye and they never thought about shouting "en core" together to get andy to sing another one or two song. The saddest thing about this is that the Andy Lau's Fan Club was one of the many people who leave the stadium first.

Anyway, to Andy, good concert. Kudos to you...

An Old Friend

Just found out that an very "old" friend of mine visited my blog. Really nice to hear from her since that she is currently in Australia working and studying (I guess). She is no other than Soong Hern aka Songie. Such a waste that she might not be able to attend KCBA Dhamma Youth Camp 10th Anniversary Celebration. Hope she would fly in next week because the anniversary night is on 16th December 2005.

As for those who is reading this blog and you have been a part of KCBA Dhamma Youth Camp before, do remember to come to KCBA on 16th December 2005 at 8pm sharp to celebrate together. See you there!!!

Announcement

I have an announcement to make.

I have cut my hair!!!

But, to see my new hairstyle, you would need to wait. I have the picture and I just need a time to load it only...

(Hopefully by tomorrow)

Outstation: Penang

I was outstation from Monday until yesterday when my colleague, Hui Yee and I was following my manager around Penang to our many client's place. It was a crazy trip because we have to meet with so many clients in such a short time. Anyway, I manage to enjoy myself there since the last time I been there was like 7 years ago. I got a chance to see part of Penang clear enough, even though it was such a brief visit. But for me, the best part of the trip is the ride on the ferry back to mainland from the island. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it. The only two things that I don't like about Penang is the way the driver (especially motocyclist) drives and the way the road is planned. Try driving there and you would understand what I mean.

Treasure Fleet: The Adventures of Zheng He

Last Saturday. I went to Midvalley Shopping Centre to visit a Michael Yamashita's exhibition with the above name. It showcase more than 20 pictures taken by the reknown photographer and what can I say, alot of people went there to have a look at those masterpieces.

I, for one, are extremely thrill with his creation. It is simply marvellous. But the best thing about this exhibition is that my girlfriend, Catriona, did joined me on that day to visit the exhibition, even though she does not have much idea about photography. Not that I am an expert on this but, I just ask her to look at the pictures and see what the photographer see through the lense. I further explain that there is no definition of a great/good photograph. Either you like it or you don't.

Grandma's Birthday

Yesterday was my grandma's birthday and previously, I have never give her a present before because I was too poor to buy one for her. This year, it was a different case. I am working and I have income. Together with Cat, both of us brought a bottle of DOME and give it to my grandma as a present.

I am not sure but maybe because of bothh my parents' angpau and our present, she was very happy and if I see correctly, she cried out of happiness. I guess, for her, it means that there are alot of people who still care about her and that is what make her happy.

Afterwards, my grandma and I sat down for a while to chat a little. What she asked was totally unexpected from her. She asked me when would I be getting marry? She was hoping to become a real great-grandmother (I have a cousin who already have a child but my cousin is a she and she is married out to another family, according to Chinese culture and that only make her a "outside" great-grandmother). I guessed she want to be a great-grandmother without the "outside as well.

And about the marrying thing, both Cat and I have our plan but it won't be that fast. Our best bet is about 3 years from now and I do wish that my grandma would be able to see me on this day and also to carry my child too in her arms.

I would try my best...

Me and My New Future

Finally, I got a chance to tell you about the me now...

Why?

Because I ave just joined another sister company of my previous company. As many of you know, I used to work in Sciencera which deal mostly with science education. But I guess it was time to move on to the new thing that I want in life - to learn and polish my skill in sales.

Currently, I am in Belantara Sains Teknologi as a Product Specialist where my main products are laboratory consumables and supplies and many other stuffs. Laboratory consumables are things like test tubes, petri dishes and universal containers for lab uses... So, anyone of you that want to buy this type of stuff, call me.

I would be covering some areas in Klang Valley, Perak, Kedah, Penang and Perlis. So, in the near future, you might see me there selling things or taking pictures...

Summary of Trip to Sabah

Day 1

Take off from KLIA at 9.35 am to KKIA (Kota Kinabalu International Airport) with my girlfriend, Catriona (Cat). Nice flight. Good weather. Pick up by Adelphi, a friend of us. Check in at Kinabalu Daya Hotel before going to Kingfisher Park to collect our rent car, a Proton Iswara SA 765 X (Don't rent from this guy... Asking for more that what was agreed). Lunch at KopiKat Cafe in Kingfisher Park. Visited lecturers and seniors in Universiti Malaysia Sabah throughout the evening. Went for dinner at "Hai Wang Cheng" beside Promenade Hotel for its fresh seafoods. Back to hotel afterward to rest.

Day 2

Breakfast at Siang Siang Restaurant in Damai. Ordered the best claypot pan mee in Malaysia (at least for me). Pick up Hannah Ho and continued to Sabah CentrePoint for first shopping spree. Sabah CP changes alot. Many familiar shops no longer around. In the end, brought a watch for each of us. Proceed to Wisma Merdeka for shopping spree phase 2 after lunch at Little Italy. Nice pasta. Cat was able to buy a jeans jacket and also a dress and she is very happy with it. Brought another watch for my sister. Meet up with Cat's seniors for dinner at Miyabi, a Japanese restaurant in Damai. Continue with pearl milky tea at Yoyo.

Day 3

Breakfast at hotel restaurant. Start journey to Poring Hot Spring early in the morning (8.00 am). Reached Poring after 3 hours. Walked around Poring for a while before going up the canopy walk. Buy souveniers at stalls in front of Poring. Brought alot of crystals before going back to KK. Reached hotel about 4 pm and rest. Pick up my cousin sister, Si Mun, her roommate, Christopher (junior from KCBA) and Johleen (a friend currently doing her master in UMS) for all-you-can-eat steamboat dinner in Damai before proceed to Yoyo (again) for their pearl milky tea. Bring the kids (Christopher, Si Mun and her roommate) to Sutera Harbour for them to know one of the most beautiful place in KK.

Day 4

Breakfast at Canton House and proceed with Tamu. I brought a sunglasses there. Next stop was KK Plaza where Cat brought some tealeafs. We also went to Philippines Village and manage to bargain more souveniers. Lunch at Raffesia Chicken Hut. Highly recommended: Butter Chicken Rice or Pandan Chicken Rice. Brought egg-tart from EggTart King, Foh San. Dinner at Foh San too but much later, eating seafood porridge with Ah Ho and Bruce.

Day 5

Brunch with Foo at Kingfisher Park in one of my favourite restaurant. Reason? Mee Bandung - something like "wat tan hor" but using tomato sauce as base. Visited more lecturer before picking up Johleen and proceed to airport Terminal 2. Flight at 6.10 pm and Johleen would help us returned the car back to Adelphi. The flight have a few first for me. #1 Flight with less than 40 passengers. #2 cup noodle with not so hot water, tasted different, #3 Bad taking off and landing (I guess the pilot is a new one), it was really a bad landing with a "bang" that might make your hear jump out. Landed in KLIA at about 8.20 pm (20 minutes early). Home Sweet Home!!!

For pictures that I have taken there, please wait for my next few posts...

Just came back

Hello there, my friends....

Just came back from my trip to Sabah. It has been a fulfilling trip for me but for my girlfriend, I kinda feel bad for her. The reason? I hold the camera all the time, taking pictures everywhere I go and throughout the trip, about 5% of the pictures are hers and for myself, even worst - one pictures only...

Anyway, I would try to write a complete "report" about the whole trip and I would post it here ASAP...

Tributes to Ms Liew

Miss Liew

Ms Liew and her students. I am the one who have a different costumes.

Don't want to sound sarcastic, but how many of you still remember your kindergarten teacher? I for one will always remember her because of her tenderness and kindness to all her students, which I am one of them.

Her name is Ms Liew and yesterday night, I received a shocking news about her. She passed away two days ago because of her blood vessel directing to the brain was somehow cut off. I don't really know what happened but this is all that I heard from my father who went over yesterday to pay his tribute. Apparently, Ms Liews husband talks to my father regularly and that is how he knows.

My parents though that I have forgotten about Ms Liew because it have been 19 years since my kindergarten year but I remember, even though not that much but at least I remember. When I cried out yesterday, my mom was abit shock and don't really understand. But I explained to her that once a teacher, will always a teacher.

Once again, Ms Liew, I pay my tributes to you.

The Sword and The Exquisiteness

I am now going into a second wuxia novel by Gu Long with the above title. Just in case you might want to know, the mandarin hanyu pinyin for this wuxia novel is "Ming Jian Feng Liu". The good thing about Gu Long's wuxia novel is that you can hardly predict what is going on and what might happens next. And this is exactly what is happening with this wuxia novel. I just finished the first two chapters and I am getting confused here and there. Luckily, I know that Gu Long would explains everything later...

Would keep you update for my progress.

Just brought the Snow. Wolf. Lake album and I find it magnificient. Go and get one for yourself.

Sentimental Swordman, Ruthless Sword

Finally, I have finished a wuxia novel by the reknown Gu Long. Don't ask me about sypnosis. If you want, email me and I would give you a zip file containing the whole wuxia novel in word file. It was a really great story with some many twists and turns. If you still don't know which wuxia novel I am referring to with the above name, let me give you the other name: Little's Li Flying Dagger. Surely your eyes brighten up now...

Smallville is Here

Smallville: Season Four is here. Yesterday was the first episode and I would try not to miss it for any reason.

Blood Donation

I am one of the many people in this world that is constantly looking for chances to donate blood. I don't understand why many are afraid of this. Maybe they are afraid of the needle, or maybe the look on the blood streaming down the tube into a bag. But I was never driven off by this. In fact, I would look at the whole process, from the injection of anaesthetic to the time when they poke the needle into my skin and when my blood start to flow into the bag, up until the stop the flowing with a stopper and fill the blood container with some of my blood and finally pulling out the needle.

Never was I, at any time, afraid or anything. It is really nothing. But I pity those who want to donate but are unable to, due to the health condition or any other reason. As for those who are able or think that they are able to donate, please go a donate. Your blood might save someone.

The "shocking" experience that I have since donating five times before is the experience I had yesterday. After the donation, I went straight home and not long after that, I start to read a magazine I brought two days ago. I think I was giving some pressure onto my hand and before I know it, blood start shooting out of the hole left from the blood donation like a fountain. It took me some time to stop the blood from flowing out but when it stop, I found myself getting dizzy. With my previous experience, I know that I might blackout and I went straight into my room and lay down with my leg resting higher than my head. This is to make sure that I would be able to keep my blood circulating and I won't blackout. Luckily, the flow stopped and I am still in one piece.

If you are asking whether I want to go and donate blood again, I would told you that I will, for as long as I live.

My name in Hiragana

This is the way my name is written in hiragana (another way of writing Japanese language). It is read as RI N E RA KA N.

In touch with ex-housemate

Yesterday morning, I received a sms from one of my ex-housemate, Lee Yee. She was one of the few people who I have a chance to live under one roof. Even though the period of time is kinda short, I appreciate our relationship most. She was my junior, even though she is abit older than me because, she has gone through "peralihan" during her schooling years.

I was very happy to receive her sms because, I tried to contact her previously but unable to because she have changed her handphone number. Furthermore, I did not have any other ways to contact her. Luckily, she sms me and we are in touch again.

Really happy to get in touch with her again...

Welcome to my new Blog

Welcome to my new blog. Rin Erakan is actually the way of reading my name in Japanese Language. As you can see here, this is the way my name is written. It is exactly the same in both Mandarin and Kanji (a type of Japanese writing).
